“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hello, and welcome to my page! My name is Anna Leese, and I’m happy that you’re here.
There is a common misconception that to attend therapy, you need to have experienced a stressful or negative life change or event. I believe that therapy can be beneficial to you regardless of whether something specific or stressful has occurred in your life. As a therapist, my goal is to connect with you, human-to-human. No matter your goals for therapy, I am here to help you cultivate self-acceptance and build a stronger sense of self-empowerment.
I enjoy working with adults 18+ on a variety of different issues. I do not believe in the idea of an “ideal client” and will instead try to meet you where you are and where I am needed. Interests of mine include working with anxiety, depression, interpersonal struggles, low self-esteem, stress management, and childhood and adulthood wounds.
Therapy has been immensely helpful in my own journey, so I understand just how powerful and restorative the therapeutic process can be. Supporting you on your journey to integrated health and wellness is an honor and a privilege.
Therapy will not always be a comfortable or an easy process. Engaging in this work requires you to recognize, acknowledge, and grapple with aspects of yourself and your life that cause you sorrow and discomfort. Even so, I am here to support you through the ups and downs so that you can not only survive, but thrive, despite the difficulties you have faced.
I earned a master’s degree in Counseling and Development at Winthrop University and am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (License #A17911) in the state of North Carolina.
