COUPLES THERAPY

Couples seek therapy for a variety of reasons. Oftentimes, there are some issues with communication, lack of connection, or infidelity. Whatever the reason, couples therapy can be great for repairing or strengthening relationships. Perhaps your partner is suffering from addiction and/or mental health challenges and you want to be able to actively support them without enabling them, or you may find it hard to express your feelings in a healthy productive way.

During couples therapy you may work on:

  • Communication Skills/Enhancement
  • Establishing Boundaries
  • Parenting Issues and Concerns
  • Infidelity
  • Intimacy and creating deeper connections
  • Strengthening already solid relationships

Our couples therapy is centered around healing the underlying issues that are causing challenges in your relationship. Therefore, we utilize an Emotionally Focused Therapy Approach with couples. This is an attachment-based form of therapy.

Oftentimes screaming, yelling and fighting is a result of unmet attachment needs as a child surfacing in your relationships as adults. In therapy we seek to better identify those attachment styles, understand them and educate your partner on how to best nature them. These get to the base need in relationships which is an ability to feel safe and secure. This form of therapy works for ALL couples including- those in the LGBTQI communities, non-monogamous couples, and non-conforming couples.

Please Note: Couple’s Therapy is not covered by insurance, as there is no billing code for couple’s therapy and there is no use of diagnosis.
